An Original Paper Cut Artwork from Owen Gildersleeve's first US solo show 'Observations from the Unknown'. The show was held at the Argonaut Gallery in San Francisco and consisted of nine original papercut artworks celebrating some of the greatest findings by NASA's Kepler spacecraft over its nine year mission.

20% of the proceeds from each sale will go to the amazing charity Arts Emergency helping to support children from diverse backgrounds, working with those least able to access higher education in the Arts, Humanities & Sciences.

This artwork Kepler-452b celebrates the first confirmed rocky planet to have been discovered outside of our Solar System. Although its size is similar to that of Earth's, it lies extremely close to its star, orbiting at a distance that’s more than 20 times closer to its star than Mercury is to our own Sun, with daytime temperature expected to be more than 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit. The artwork depicts various details about the newly discovered planet, including the radius, mass, orbital period as well as being an abstract typographic representation of the planet's name.

Each artwork is one of a kind hand cut out of multiple layers of coloured paper in Owen's studio and placed onto a stiff backing board. The final artwork has been mounted in a bespoke handcrafted white wooden box frame using museum quality UV filtered perspex, to give a high-quality and long lasting protective finish. The frame is finished with fastenings for easy hanging. All original artworks are sent with a Certificate of Authenticity and are posted Tracked via Special Delivery for safe shipping.

Due to the handcrafted nature of this artwork it may contain some nicks and irregularities which are a charming part of the hand-making process and make the piece truly unique.
